I'll start by saying I served in the invasion of Iraq w/ a Marine infantry unit. In 2004 I joined the army and did two tours as a grunt w/ them... I won't go into details.
Anyway, was this movie mildly entertaining? Yes.
Was it near complete and total H-wood imaginary, make believe BS? Yes.
I'll list the innacuracies.
1. We would never ever ever ever ever travel in Iraq in a lone humvee!
2. We would never ever ever ever pop-a-smoke and do our own thing-this is in reference to when brainiac blew off his team to go dis arm like 6 155 mike mikesor 155mm's
3. EOD out shooting mercenary contractors in Iraq? Ha yeah right! This is utter BS. Most contractors I met/worked w/ that were over there were far superior at killing ppl than EOD! Most contractors are former British SAS, NAvy SEALS, Marine snipers, Army SF, MArine RECon, Marine Force reconaissance! EOD can not out shoot, nor out perform any of these guys when it comes to closing w/ and engaging the enemy, nor can they snipe better than any of the previously mentioned.
4. EOD clears a building(when they find the dead lil' boy) all by their lonesome! BS! Infantry or a spec team would clear first then EOD(sleeping in the Humvee by the way) would be radioed in to clear any suspicious items, ordinance, bombs etc etc...
5. Sneaking off of base to go find the lil boys killer? BS! If any one ever snuck off of a base, fob, hasty platoon 360, etc etc... they would have their asses handed to them.
6. CAr parked near the UN building? hahaha was that a joke? Ok, there is an enemy sniper that starts the car on fire while numbnuts puts it out, meanwhile haji's homeboy is recording them, etc etc... remembering these inacurate scenes is makin my brain bleed. This scene was total BS! Would never happen
7. Oh, getting back to the 7 or 8 daisy chained 155s at the bgng... Ok haj would not rig that up in the center like that w/ the detonating device rigged to his house. It would blow him, his neighbors, kids, and all of his own pets away!
Okay, there is alot more stuff-but as mentioned earlier I was an enlisted grunt in the Marines and the Army so Im not used to typing. So, I will not continue listing stuff
If you want a feel for accuracy don't watch this film. It is drowning w/ hollywood allover it
If you enjoy wholly made up, insanely exagerated, non-realistic films-I recomend you watch this w/ transformers.
The acting was good, props were good, iraq scenes good, weapons sysyems good, but the writers of this film added way tooo much crap. I reccomend they do a 2 week tour of Iraq enlisted over there. They would probably be embarassed for making the film.
Ministry - Fear (Is Big Business)
